Domenico Puccini - Concert For Harpsichord

Written in 1800, the CONCERT FOR HARPSICHORD (or piano) and a small orchestra of strings, two oboes and two horns is cast in the style and traditional form of the classical concert, in three contrasting movements – fast, slow, fast, following one another without interruption. The manuscript of the work is being kept at the library of the Lucca’s Lyceum of Music. Different publishers have made several editions of the work throughout the years. The contemporary version of the concert is the work of the great pianist Marcello Abbado (the brother of celebrated conductor Claudio Abbado). He also wrote the closing cadenza in the first movement. Several other cadenzas, in accordance with the performing tradition, were composed by soloist Victor Chuchkov.
