Biography
TSANISLAV PETKOV is a graduate of the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National School of Music and Performing Arts in Burgas, where he studied piano with Yulia Nenova, and of the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, where in 2010 he specialized in opera and symphony conducting under Prof. Plamen Dzhurov and Georgi Patrikov, Assoc.prof. PhD . As a student, he made his debut on the stage of the Stefan Makedonski National Music Theater, conducting the premiere of Enough the Musical. Petkov began an internship as conductor of the Sinfonietta - Vidin during the 2013/14 season, and has held the position of artistic director and chief conductor of the Haskovo Chamber Orchestra since 2015. Under his leadership, the orchestra performs over ten concert programmes a year of classical and contemporary works. Between 2017 and 2022, Petkov was also a permanent conductor at the State Opera in Burgas. He has also conducted the philharmonic orchestras in Sofia and Pleven, the sinfoniettas in Vratsa, Vidin and Shumen, the Sliven Symphony Orchestra and orchestras in Hungary and Austria. He graduated with a Master's degree in Art Management from the Academy of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv in 2020. He is currently the conductor of the European Recording Orchestra. He has attended masterclasses led by Prof. Paolo Policchi (Italy), Prof. Tamara Poddubnaya (Russia), Prof. Marina Kapatsinska (Bulgaria) and Prof. Pancho Vladigerov (Germany). As well as being a conductor, Petkov is also a highly active composer and arranger of popular music. He has participated in and won national awards at the Burgas and Sea Pop Song Contests. His numerous awards include the "Cultural Figure" award from the municipality of Haskovo (2017), the "Promotion of the Burgas Opera House" award from the municipality of Burgas (2019) and the "Young Conductor of the Year" award in Sofia (2022).
