Deyan Velikov was born in Varna. He graduated from the Dobri Hristov National School of Arts in the double bass class of Nelly Decheva, and then continued his studies at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music, in the double bass class of Prof. Tsvetomir Lazarov. Currently he is an assistant leader of the double bass group in the Sofia Philharmonic, a lecturer and a full-time assistant professor in the discipline “Orchestral difficulties” at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music, where he is also a full-time PhD student. He has participated in the master classes of Rob Nairn, Wolfgang Güttler, Ivan Stankov, Miloslav Jelinek, Thomas Martin, Thierry Barbé, Jan Krygowski, Miloslav Gajdoš, Brett Simner, Leon Bosch, Petru Juga. He is a laureate of national music competitions and was awarded a diploma by the National Culture Fund for the development of the creative potential of young talents in the field of culture. He has participated in projects of the Classic FM Orchestra, Genesis Orchestra, New Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonie Südwestfalen – Germany, Quarto Quartet, Philhamronica Quartet, numerous projects of the FOUR FOR MUSIC recording company. He performs as a soloist in concerts of Haskovo Chamber Orchestra , Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Academic Symphony Orchestra, Shumen Symphony Orchestra.
