“FESTIVE OVERTURE“ is the epitome of Veselin Stoyanov’s rich orchestral thinking. A master of extended musical form, the composer brilliantly constructs the dramaturgy of the work based on vivid contrasting thematic material. The sparkling celebratory first theme frames the sonata-form sections, the inner climaxes building the dynamic relief of the work. Particularly beautiful is the second, motivically deployed lyric-epic sphere. The extensive coda has a hymnic character; it is an apotheosis of festivity.

“Festive Overture” was written on the occasion of the 15^th  anniversary of the September, 9^th, the national holiday back then. But this is only a historical fact. The composer created a magnificent work, emblematic both for its author and for Bulgarian music.
