“Köçekçe” by ULVİ CEMAL ERKİN is among the most beloved and performed works of the composer. “Köçekçe” comes from the Turkish word “köçek” which was used for the dancers in the old times.

Those “köçekçe”s are used to be performed at the end of the musical entertainments in cities called “fasıl”. They were either accompanied with songs or just instrumental performances which are a kind of suite being in series of its appearance. The composer has chosen examples from these tunes in “Karcığar” and “Hicaz” series and has created a beautiful piece by skillful orchestration.
