Songs of a soul flying to paradise

Almost all of these devotional works are dedicated to the memory of his daughter Joanna, as well as "SONGS OF A SOUL FLYING TO PARADISE" for soprano, tape recorder and orchestra, set to poems by Emily Dickinson. Ivan Spasov's subtle sense of words has repeatedly drawn him to the delicate elegance of her poetry, which he addresses in both 23 Stanzas after Emily Dickinson and in Triptych for soprano and piano, also dedicated to Joni. "I consider this piece to be one of the most intimate I have written. The ensemble was chosen for a reason: three trombones, bell and piano, and a stride in a reduced ensemble. The piece abounds in lonesome violin solos, serious and restrained chorales in the trombones. The fourth movement, "Come and in my home settle," is a dialogue between the Soul of the Child , Flying to Heaven, and Jesus. I entrusted the part of Jesus to a tenor accompanied by organ. I wanted Jesus' voice to come from somewhere above, so I used a pre-recording." Songs of a Soul Flying to Paradise were first performed on October 27^th, 1991 in Plovdiv by Tiha Genova, with the participation of Orlin Goranov (the voice of Jesus), with the Representative Academic Orchestra conducted by Kiril Chaplikov.
