Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58
About the work
SONATA NO. 3, Op. 58, dedicated to Countess Élise de Perthuis, was composed in 1844. This work, together with the preceding Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, is considered one of Chopin's most complex works, both in terms of musical content and technique. The two sonatas have an analogous four-movement structure, but in place of the famous Funeral march in the Sonata No. 2, the third movement here is a lyrically extended Largo.
