Andalusian Caprice for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 122

Caprice andalous was published in 1904. The composer visited Andalusia on several occasions. In 1889 he recorded a folk melody in Cadiz, which he used as a theme in his work, which is constructed in the form of free variations. A kind of poetic reverie of Andalusia, enlivened by Spanish rhythms, the original version of Andalusian Caprice was written for violin and piano and dedicated to the Dutch violinist Johannes Wolff. Saint-Saëns later orchestrated it.
