The year of composition of the Sinfonia Pastoritia in G major by Anton Zimmermann remains unknown to this day. Presumably it was one of the spectacular works in the repertoire of the orchestra that the composer led. It is in 4 movements. The call of the cuckoo in the introduction introduces the pastoral atmosphere. The active dialogue between the solo alphorn and the orchestra is in the two fast and driving movements: the second and fourth. A third dance movement between them, in “tempo di hanaco”, creates an imaginative contrast.
