"Travel Notebook" for Piano and Orchestra

About the work

ALEKSEY SHOR has composed a ballet with elements of opera, orchestral works, vocal and keyboard opuses and a number of concert works for solo instrument and orchestra - piano, violin, viola, cello and clarinet, with imaginative programme titles related to impressions from his travels. Such is one of his most recent works, Suite for Piano and Orchestra TRAVEL NOTEBOOK (Travelogue), reminiscent of the traditional theme of wandering in the Romantic 19th century. The seven movements convey experiences in different European cities - the sounds of the lively pedestrian boulevard in Barcellona, the sadness of parting with Rome, the austere solemnity of the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, the melancholic mood in Venice, the vital atmosphere of the horse races in Ascot. Schor's works have been performed by such world-famous names as Salvatore Accardo, Shlomo Mintz, Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Freddy Kempf, Denis Kozukhin, Ji Young Lim, David Aaron Carpenter, Ray Chen, Ingolf Wunder and Nikolai Znaider, Andreas Ottensamer, Anna Aglatova, Boris Allakhverdyan, Boris Andrianov, Nareh Arghamanyan, Veronika Dzhioeva, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Andrei Ioniță, Haik Kazazyan, Khachaturian Trio, Trio Wanderer, Duo Paratore and many others.
