THE CHILDREN’S CHOIR OF THE BULGARIAN NATIONAL RADIO was founded in 1960 by
Christo Nedyalkov – artistic director and chief conductor. Making a quick artistic progress it soon became famous on stage, finding its due place among the best choirs in Bulgaria as something entirely mature in creativity and becoming a leader in Bulgaria’s choir- performing art.
The choir’s repertoire includes compositions by old masters of different epochs and styles, works of Bulgarian and foreign contemporary composers, choir arrangements of Bulgarian and other centuries-old folk songs.
The young Bulgarian singers have had great success singing in the most famous concert halls in Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Cairo, Copenhagen, Hono- lulu, New York, London, Mexico, Mos- cow, Paris, Prague, Stockholm, Tokyo, Vienna, Washington, and in many other towns of nearly 30 countries.In Japan alone the choir has given 490 concerts within its sixteen concert tours in that country, visiting over 150 towns.
Many recording music labels and television companies have recorded its programs and are popularizing its high performing art all over the world.
The Children’s Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio is laureate and winner of Grand Prix, special and first awards, gold medals and diplomas for great artistic achievements at many national and international choir competitions and festivals.
In 2002 the European Choirs’ Federation to the European Union conferred upon the Choir the title Cultural Ambassador of Europe.
Since 2013 Venetzia Karamanova is ap- pointed as principal conductor.
