Within just two months from its inception, the piano duo AGLIKA GENOVA & LYUBEN DIMITROV won several prestigious awards from the 1996 ARD Music Competition in Munich, the 1997 Murray Dranoff Piano Duo Competition in Miami, the 1996 Tokyo Piano Duo Competition and the 1995 Bellini Music Competition in Italy. Since then, Aglika Genova and Liuben Dimitrov have concertized on the most important stages on several continents, such as the Library of Congress and the National Gallery in Washington, DC; the Schleswig-Holstein, Rheingau, Ludwigsburg and Schwetzingen Festivals; the City Hall in Cape Town, the Herkulessaal Munich, the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Gstaad Music Festival, and MDR Music Summer; at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, and the Passau European Music Weeks, as well as at the March Music Days Russe, the Varna Summer Festival, and the Sofia Music Weeks, the La Roque d’Antheron, the Al Bustan Music Festival Beirut, Casals Hall Tokyo, Poly Theatre Beijing, and Teatro Municipal Rio de Janeiro, at the Ravello Festival, Woodstock Mozart Festival, Festival Miami, Chopin Piano Festival Duszniki, among others. In 2014,  Genova and Dimitrov were named Artists in Residence and Mentors of the Sommets Musicaux International Festival (“Gstaad Music Festival”).

They have played under the direction of conductors like Eiji Oue, Ari Rasilainen, Hannu Lintu, Stefan Blunier, John Carewe, Emil Tabakov, Alun Francis, Ulf Schirmer, Robin Gritton, Gabriel Feltz, Alexander Rudin.

Over its twenty years of history, the duo has recorded twelve compact-discs for the CPO and Gega New labels, and has realized a number of world premiere recordings, such as the piano duo works of Dmitry Shostakovitch, Johann Christian Bach, Muzio Clementi, and Pantcho Vladigerov A particular emphasis in their discography are their recordings with orchestra Martinu and Schnittke, Concertos for two pianos (NDR Radio Philharmonic/Eiji Oue), French Concertos – Milhaud, Poulenc, Casadesus (SWR Radio Orchestra/Alun Francis) and Mendelssohn, Concertos 1 & 2 (Munich Radio Orchestra/Ulf Schirmer). The compactdisc Arensky, Five Suites for Two Pianos, which the Artists dedicated to the memory of their deceased teacher Vladimir Krainev, was designated by the media worldwide even as “trend-setting”.

Since 2005, Genova and Dimitrov act regularly as jurors of the ARD Music Competition in Munich, and in 2008 – of the Dranoff International Piano Duo Competition in Miami.  In 2010, the two pianists were appointed Artistic Directors of the Dranoff International Two Piano Competition in Miami. Shortly afterwards, they also established the Junge Musikelite concert series in Auetal (Germany).

Since 2009, they act as heads of the Piano Duo Department at the Hanover Academy of Music, Theater and the Media, and in 2011 they founded the Klavier im Doppelpack piano duo forum. Genova and Dimitrov have held numerous master classes worldwide, including the prominent annual Cloister Michaelstein Piano Duo Academy (Blankenburg/Harz, Germany), as well as the Allegra Summer Music Academy in Russe, Bulgaria.

Genova and Dimitrov are graduates of the Sofia National Academy of Music, in the class of profs. Julia and Konstantin Ganevi, and specialized with Vladimir Krainev at the Hanover Academy of Music. Currently, Aglika Genova and Lyuben Dimitrov reside in Hanover, Miami and Sofia.
