“Frosch” String Quartet is founded in 2007 in Sofia. It begins its concert activity with annual participation in the cycle of concerts “The Radio Soloists” at Bulgarian National Radio. There are realized recordings for the fund of the Bulgarian National Radio on pieces by P. Vladigerov, K. Iliev, V. Kazandzhiev, M. Goleminov, P. Kerkelov. The ensemble participates in the festivals: “Winter music nights” – Ruse, “Ambul” – Sofia (2009,2011,2013), “Sound and Connection” – Sofia (2009), “Sofia Music Weeks” (2010,2011,2014,2015), “March Music Days” (2011, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018), “Chamber Music Days” – Gabrovo (2011,2015), “Apollonia” (2012), “Ars Musica festival” – Brussels (2014), “Varna Summer” (2015), Winter music nights “Prof. Ivan Spasov” – Pazardzhik (2016).
In April 2008 the quartet received Second award at the International competition for Austrian chamber music -Sofia. In December 2008 received First award at Academic competition for chamber music, dedicated to Marin Goleminov.
The Quartet is laureate of “Crystal lyre” for 2015 in Chamber ensembles category. Frosch Sting Quartet realize a number Bulgarian and World premieres of pieces by George Crumb, Osvaldo Golihov, Steve Reich, Tery Reily, Rumen Blaiozov, Alexander Radvilovich, Lubomir Denev, Vasil Kazandzhiev, Georgi Arnaudov, Sunne Skouen, Petar Kerkelov, Martin Georgiev, as part of the pieces are written specially for the Quartet. Among the big projects of the Quartet are – concert in Oslo Concert House, dedicated to Bulgarian and Norwegian modern music, as well as participation in the First edition of the festival “Musica Nordica” in Sofia. The ensemble works on recording the integral of Four String Quartets by Konstantin Iliev at the Bulgarian National Radio.
On the first of November 2017, “Frosch” have the honor to perform at the Opening Concert from cooperative program of Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Moscow and “Tchaikovsky” Museum, as well as in project “New Bulgarian Music” at Bulgarian Cultural Institute in the Russian capital.
In the period January – June 2018 the quartet participates in the project of Sofia Philharmonic “Music of Europe” by giving two concerts, dedicated to Czech Republic and Great Britain.
