The name of the Latvian composer SELGA MENCE (1953) is strongly associated with choral music. Her works are widely popular after Latvian choirs won international competitions with some of her opuses. They have also been performed at many national festivals as well as in Europe, the USA and Canada. She is a professor of composition at the Latvian Academy of Music. She was awarded the national Order of the Three Stars IV degree (2020) for her work.
