Roumen Boyadjieff Jr.
has authored music from various genres. Works of his have repeatedly been pre- miered by the Sofia Philharmonic: under the direction of Martin Panteleev, the pre- miere performance of his Requiem Mass for choir and great symphony orchestra was realized in 2013; in 2012 took place the concert performance of the his first operetta for children, The Little Match Girl, after Andersen (libretto by the Venelin Me- todiev) under the direction of Grigor Pa- likarov. For this work Rumen Boyadzhiev won the Musician of the Year 2012 Award
for Creative Debut of the Allegro Vivace broadcast on the Horizont program of the Bulgarian National Radio. The operetta re- ceived its stage performance at the National
Musical Theatre in 2014.
Other works he authored include a Con- cert for horn and piano, Concert for a brass octet, Lamento for flugelhorn and orches- tra, works for percussion, Romance for oboe d’amore and piano, to name just a few. A successful performance was given of the Concert No.1 for bassoon and orchestra with soloist Christo Zachariev and conductor Grigor Palikarov.
Since 2003, Rumen Boyadzhiev enjoys exceptional reputation in film and theatrical music genre, as well as in the field of the musical arrangement. In 2008 he orchestrated the symphonic part of the concert Vladimir ‘Grafa’ Ampov – twenty years on stage. He is the orchestrator of Glen Hugh es’ individual project, recorded in London. Worked as composer and arranger with Orlin Goranov, Mariana Popova, Belo- slava, Kamelia Todorova, Susanna Sid, Roberta. Orchestrated the theme music from the GOTHIC computer game, particularly
popular in Bulgaria. Worked with di- rectors Andrei Slabakov, Atanas Atanasov, Boyko Boyanov, Ivan Panev, Nikolay Iliev, Sotir Gelev, Dimitar Mitovski, and Delyana Hadzhiyankova.
In 2010 he was distinguished with the Film Composer of the Year Award of the National Film Academy, and received nu- merous international accolades as instrumentalist and composer.
Rumen Boyadzhiev is a graduate of the National School of Music in Sofia, majoring in percussion and of the National Academy of Music in Sofia under Dobri Paliev and Tatyana Karparova. Student of Stephan Trayanov, Yavor Dimitrov, Ivan Eftimov, in composition and orchestration of Ale- xander Raichev. Graduated from optional conducting classes with Ivan Marinov and Deyan Pavlov. Played in the orchestra of the National Musical Theatre in Sofia and in chamber and jazz formations.
