As a composer Frédéric Chaslin wrote 5 operas, Wuthering Heights being the most famous; and over 50 melodies for soprano, mezzo and baritone, based on verses by Robert Frost, Jean Cocteau and others. Excerpts from his operas have been performed and recorded by the most famous sopranos, such as Anna Netrebko, Natalie Dessay, Olga Peretyatko and Diana Damrau (the latter including Chaslin’s arias her CD “Diana Damrau Forever”). Symphonic compositions include the Chagall Suite, Gipsy Dance for violin and orchestra and a cello concerto. He made his own orchestration of Mahler’s Symphony No 10, performed on November 30th , 2018 with the Zagreb Philharmonic under his direction. His latest opera/musical Monte Cristo, commissionned by Placido Domingo for the Los Angeles opera, is being under preparation since 2018. Performances have also being planned for such places as Valencia (Spain) Paris, Monte Carlo, Bologna, Lisbon and Vienna.
