Alexander Lekovski (1933-2013) was a Macedonian composer and conductor. He graduated in conducting from the Belgrade Academy of Music under Professor Zivoin Zdravkovic in 1959, and later continued his music education in Italy. From 1975 to 1977, he was director of the National Opera and Ballet in Skopje. He has built a career as a symphony conductor with a diverse repertoire. In the period 1982-1986, he served as director of the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra. He composed many symphonic and chamber works, choral compositions, as well as the ballets “Aspirations” and “Elan”.
