Yana Deshkova

Yana Deshkova was born in Bulgaria in 1977. She began regular studies in music at the Panayot Pipkov Music School in Pleven, in the class of Blagorodna Taneva. Subsequent teachers and inspirers to the young violinist became Yfrah Neaman and Mincho Minchev, as well as the Melos Quartet. Yana Deshkova's initial concert appearances took place when she was just seven years old. The talented musician was distinguished with numerous prizes from national and international competitions, including the first prize from the Rodolfo Lipizer competition in Italy. Recordings of hers are to be found in the archives of the Bulgarian National Radio, RAI -3, Radio Frankfurt, as well as on compact-discs made for the Da Capo recording label in Denmark. She is winner of the prize for exclusive contribution to the musical activities of the Northern Jutland region, Denmark. Yana is a versatile musician interested in different styles in music. She has played with the baroque ensemble New London Consort, and partnered with musicians of high standing, such as Laurence Power, François Leleux, Romaine Garioud, Michala Petri, among others. Recently, the Danish television TV-2 selected her for participation on the 'Your Life is a Song television program, where viewers can acquaint themselves with her on one of the eleven episodes as one of the noteworthy personalities in the cultural life of the region. The film also features the portrait-song written especially for Yana by famous Danish singer Michael K. Yana Deshkova is the principal concertmaster of the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra in Denmark and founder of ContiNEO Ensemble.
