Biography
Vladimir Djambazov (b. 1954) was born in Sevlievo and graduated from the Folkwang Music Academy in Essen, Germany (DAAD Scholarship), having studied Electronic Music Composition and Horn. Further he specialized at ICEM, Essen, Germany in Computer Composition/New media. In 2005, he was composer-in-residence of the Berlin artistic program of DAAD. Vladimir Djambazov wrote electroacoustic music, chamber and symphonic music, music for theater, animation, documentary and future films, jazz and pop music, music for advertising and new media. He has participated in a number of music festivals around the world such Bourges (France), Electronic Spring, Elektrokomplex and Wien Modern in Vienna, Inventionen in Berlin and November Music in Essen (Germany), Musica Scienza (Italy), the FEMF in Florida (USA), NYCEMF, New York, USA and ISCM Mew music days in Ljubljana and Hong Kong. He has performed in more than 40 countries in Europe, North America, the Far East and Africa. Vladimir has won prestigious national and international music awards such as II Prize of the IHS Contest in Greenville, USA, The Foundation “D.Valchev” Award for best theater music, twice the Grand Prix of the International composition contest “7/8” (2012 and 2013), Special prize of the contest “Music and Earth”, twice the Golden Dolphin in Varna, Bulgaria and several international awards for best stage music. His music has been recorded and published in Bulgaria, Germany, USA, Japan, Austria and Hong Kong and broadcasted by the Bulgarian National Radio, WDR (Germany), ORF (Austria), RFI (France), the Slovenian National Radio, Korean Radio, Radio Hong Kong and the Canadian web radio. The discography of the composer includes Balkanton (Bulgaria), Cybele, Monopol Records and Erdenklang in Germany and Leonardo Music Journal in the United States. His one-hour electronic work, “The Creation of the World”, has been performed many times in Europe, and the Monopol Records, a Berlin-based company, releases it on CD and DVDs in 2004. Vladimir Djambazov taught Audio design and Virtual computer technologies at the New Bulgarian University and Sofia University.
