Vassil Belezhkov

Young composer Vassil Belezhkov has been guitarist of the Episode band since 2009. He has written symphony and jazz music, inspired by Bulgarian folklore. Born in Plovdiv in 1984, he attended the Dobrin Petkov National School of Music and Dance in his hometown. In 2002, he entered the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music, graduating in composition in 2009 and in guitar in 2011. Belezhkov won second prize at the 14^th International Competition for Composition of Symphonic Work “7/8” with his Symphony Variations Kitchitse, buina loboda, performed by the Sofia Philharmonic with conductor Martin Panteleev, as well as second prize at the 12^th International Competition for Composition of Symphonic Work “7/8” with “Bosa Kopa” for saxophone quartet and symphony orchestra. His collection of prizes includes an award for active creative endeavour in the Bulgarian National Radio’s Musician of the Year contest 2011.
