Vasil Lolov

Vasil Lolov (1913-1992) was a Bulgarian violinist, conductor and composer. He began his career as a violinist in the Tsarist Military Symphony Orchestra. He was concertmaster in the Sofia Opera Orchestra and the Plovdiv Symphony Orchestra. In the period 1949-1955 he was the chief conductor of the Burgas Symphony Orchestra, and for the next five years he was the conductor of the Plovdiv Opera. From 1962 he worked at the Bulgarian National Radio, where he became the editor-in-chief of the "Musical Broadcasts" editorial office. Vasil Lolov was the founder and head of the "Collegium for Chamber Music" (1968-1980). He also worked in the General Directorate "Bulgarian Music". Lolov was a lecturer in chamber music at the National Academy of Music "Prof. P. Vladigerov" (then BDK).
He creates symphonic and chamber instrumental works, choral and children's songs, orchestral suites of folk songs, arrangements of folk songs, music for theatrical productions, etc.
