Valentin Makarov

Valentin Makarov (1908–1952) is a Russian and Soviet composer, born in the city of Tetyushi, Kazan province. In 1935, he entered the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow. During the Second World War, he served in the political department of the Black Sea Fleet and created several works about the hero city of Sevastopol, and its defenders. He also wrote many choral works, and made a great contribution to the development of choral art, song classics, glorified his homeland, nature, and people.
