TOBIAS GRABHER (b. 1997) is a conductor, trombonist and singer. He is the leader of the chamber orchestra Camerata Musica Reno, with which he made his debut in 2021 at the Theater Kosmos in Bregenz and his performances with the orchestra have since become a regular feature of the theatre’s programme. Highlights include Beethoven’s Overture to Egmont and Act II of Fidelio with singers from the Vienna State Opera’s Opera Studio. Since 2022 he has also been the conductor of the Concert Choir of Lower Austria, performing at the Grafenegg, the St. Pölten Festspielhaus, with the Vienna Academy Orchestra and at the Imago Dei Festival. He is currently studying conducting with Sian Edwards at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. During this academic year he participated in the realisation of the University’s annual opera production of Puccini’s Il trittico, and last year he was assistant conductor in the production of The Merry Wives of Windsor. He has also conducted masterclasses with international orchestras such as the Seinäjoki City Orchestra (Finland), the Allegra Festival Orchestra (Bulgaria), the Kharkiv Opera Orchestra (Ukraine) and the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra (Hoenems).
He is the recipient of the Art Advancement Award of the State of Vorarlberg (2023) and the Richard Wagner Fellowship (2022). He completed his trombone studies with Dietmar Küblböck (principal trombonist of the Vienna Philharmonic), pursued postgraduate studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Catherine Motuz, and worked with Harald Brandt at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory. He studied voice at the University of Vienna with Tanya Aspelmeier, Ursula Langmeier and Johannes Geppert.
