Stanimir Todorov

Bulgarian cellist STANIMIR TODOROV was born in Sofia in 1967. Studied violoncello in National School of Music and between 1988 and 1991 continued his education in the class of Prof. Zdravko Yordanov at the National Academy of Music in Sofia. In 1991 he received a scholarship from the International Menuhin Music Academy (IMMA) in Gstaad, Switzerland, where he studied with Radu Aldulescu. After his graduation from IMMA and the Conservatoire in Paris, Stanimir Todorov became Prof. Aldulescu’s assistant at the IMMA and joined the team of Camerata Lysy Gstaad as a principal cellist. As a member of this ensemble he has appeared on major festivals such as Menuhin (Switzerland), Musical de Granada (Spain), Musical de Orvieto and Incontri in terra di Sienna (Italy), Berlin Music Encounters, Annenberg Festival (Denmark) and Apolonia (Sozopol). Mr. Todorov has played chamber music with Valentin Berlinski, the Borodin Quartet, Carl Lister, Jeremy and Yehudi Menuhin, Leif Ove Andsnes, Liviu Prunaru and Sophia Reuter. He has performed as a soloist of the Radio France Orchestra, the National Radio Orchestra of Denmark, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte Carlo, and the New Symphony Orchestra - Sofia, the Plovdiv Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Adana, Haddonfield and Montevideo, as well as various symphony orchestras in Argentina. He has served as Professor at the Royal Music Academy in Copenhagen, Denmark, Conservatory in Malmö, Sweden and IMMA, Switzerland. Held master classes in Spain, Guatemala, Bolivia, South Africa, Bulgaria and Argentina. Stanimir Todorov’s performances are applauded in Europe, Canada, USA, Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay, Guatemala and South Africa. He has played in prominent venues such as the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Champs-Elysees and Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Salonas in Bern and Basel in Switzerland, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, the Paul Klee Museum in Bern and Bulgaria Hall. He was a laureate of the prestigious International Rostropovich Competition (Paris, 1994), where he also won the Special Prize for Best Performance of the Required Work. In 1999 he was selected as “The Best Bulgarian Young Musician of the year.” He served as concertmaster of the National Radio Orchestra of Denmark, of the Symphony Orchestra of Suisse Romande (Genève) and of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Monte Carlo. Currently he is a soloist of the permanent orchestra of Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
