Simeon Goshev

The young Bulgarian pianist SIMEON GOSHEV lives and works in Vienna. His vivid and exciting interpretations, especially of compositions by the Viennese classics and composers of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, are highly praised throughout Europe. In the current 2022/2023 season, the young musician has an extensive concert programme, including solo concerts at the Musikverein in Vienna, the Royal Theatre in Warsaw, the Mozarteum in Salzburg and many more. Tonight is his debut as soloist of the Sofia Philharmonic. His first solo CD, Bulgarian Piano Heritage II, made possible by the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, with the aim of spreading Bulgarian classical music around the world, was released in early 2022. The last years of Simeon Goshev's career have been marked by success. During the previous season (2021/2022), in addition to his two solo recitals at the Musikverein, he gave numerous concerts in Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy and Bulgaria. His recordings have appeared on Bulgarian National Television, Bulgarian National Radio, Austrian National Radio and Bavarian Radio. He has won prestigious prizes at international competitions for pianists - the Grand Prize at the Bösendorfer Competition in Vienna, the Second Prize at the Pancho Vladigerov Competition in Shumen, two prizes at the Leos Janacek in Brno and many others. The young pianist completed his musical studies as a Master of Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (MDW), after studying with world class musicians like Stefan Vladar, Oleg Maisenberg and Liliya Zilberstein. Strongly interested in various aspects of classical music, he successfully combines active concert, research and teaching. In 2021 he completed his PhD at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music with a doctoral thesis on piano versions of Igor Stravinsky's ballets, and in October 2021 he became part of the esteemed teaching team of the piano department in the MDW. As of 2021 Simeon Goshev is an official Bösendorfer Artist – representing one of the world’s leading piano brands.
