Biography

SILVIA MACEJOVÁ began studying saxophone in 2014 at the Bratislava Conservatory under Prof. Alexander Stepanov. She has participated in masterclasses with leading saxophonists across Europe, including Vincent David and Nicolas Arsenievich (France), Joana Rautio (Finland), Paweł Gusnar (Poland), Alvaro Collao León (Finland), and Lars Mleczek, professor of saxophone at the Zurich University of the Arts. Macejová has received numerous awards at national and international competitions, among them first prize at the Leonard Bernstein Institute Competition (2023, 2025). She has also been recognized at the Pro Bohemia International Competition in Ostrava (Czech Republic), the Competitions in Slovak Republic Conservatory and in Wrocław (Poland), the London International Music Competition, a one in France. In 2025, she won first prize in her age category at the 26th International Music Competition in Osaka, a multidisciplinary competition for performers of various instruments. Since 2020, she has been a member of the Pressburg Saxophone Quartet, with which she performs regularly on national and international stages and recorded the album Musica Slovaca (2024). In 2024, she also joined the Reverie quartet. Macejová collaborates with major Slovak institutions, including the Slovak Philharmonic, the Slovak National Theatre, and the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.
