Biography
After graduating from the Music Academy in the class of Dobri Paliev, RUMYANA MIHAILOVA joined the Sofia Philharmonic as a timpanist. She is a member of the Percussion Ensemble Polyrhythmia. She has given numerous solo performances, played with all Bulgarian orchestras, under the direction of many well-known conductors, toured on four continents. For 13 years she taught chamber music for percussion ensembles at the Academy of Music, and currently teaches percussion at the Lubomir Pipkov School of Music. Her repertoire of contemporary compositions includes Lilcho Borisov's Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra (1981), which she performed and recorded. She participated in the performance of Emil Tabakov's Concerto for Violin, Vibraphone, Marimba, Choir and Orchestra.
