Rodrigo Samano Albarran

Rodrigo Sámano made his conducting debut in 2018 at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, during a gala concert with renowned tenor Ramón Vargas. Since then he has rapidly developed emerging as a promising young conductor and receiving several invitations to
conduct both in Austria and abroad. He has conducted orchestras like the Opera I Filharmonia Podlaska, Orkiestra Operi na Zamku, Kharkiv National Orchestra, Webern Symphonie Orchester, Webern Kammerphilharmonie, Esker Festival Orchestra, Ton der Jugend Orchester, Akademisches Symphonieorchester Wien among others. Throughout the years he has collected valuable advice from musicians such as Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, Marin Alsop, Herbert Blomstedt, Barbara Hannigan, Lars Vogt, Stefan Gottfried and many others. In 2021, he was invited to participate in a CD recording conducting the Webern Kammerphilharmonie. Later that year he got invited to conduct the same orchestra at the Radio Kulturhaus in Vienna, this concert was recorded and broadcasted by the Austrian national television (ORF).
In the summer of 2022 he got invited to conduct at the 9th edition of the Esker Festival in Ireland as well as at the Festspiele Reichenau in Austria. Shortly after, he did his opera debut at the Opera I Filharmonia Podlaska conducting three performances of West Side Story. Just
recently he worked as assistant conductor to Vladimir Kiradjiev for a production of “Un ballo in maschera” at the Opera na Zamku in Szczecin, Poland and to Finnegan Downie Dear with Camerata Salzburg.
Born in Mexico City into a family of musicians, started learning music at the age of 15. He completed his bachelor’s degree as a cellist in San Sebastián with Prof. Asier Polo. He has been studying Orchestral Conducting with Prof. Mark Stringer and Choir Conducting with Prof. Alois Glaßner at the “Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien” in Vienna since 2018. Recent engagements include a concert with Webern Sinfonieorchester at the Schlosstheater Schonbrünn in Vienna, another production at Festspiele Reichanau this summer and a concert with the Philharmonie Marchfeld later this season. In June of 2023 he will conduct the Radio Symphonie Orchester Wien (RSO) at the Musikverein to conclude his Orchestral Conducting studies.
