Róbert Farkas

The Hungarian conductor Róbert Farkas captured the attention of the classical music world when he won the third prize of the International Lovro von Matačić competition, as well as the Opera Award and the Special Award of the Croatian Composer's Society (HDS) in 2011. In the following years, he worked with the Hungarian National Philharmonic, the Symphonic Orchestra Savaria and the Pannon Philharmonic in Pécs and conducts the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Concerto Budapest, and the Danubia Orchestra in Hungary on a regular basis. Recently he made his Debut with the Budapest Festival Orchestra.

He already worked with the Berliner Konzerthausorchester, the Berliner Symphoniker, the Leipziger Kammerorchester, the Heidelberger Philharmoniker, the Wuppertaler Sinfonieorchester and the Collegium Musicum Pommersfelden in Germany, with the Croatian Radio Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra " George Enescu " and the Orchestra Simfonică a Filarmonicii "Banatul" din Timişoara.

Apart from classical operas like Cosi fan tutte, La Traviata and Die Entführung aus dem Serail, he also conducts modern and contemporary works like Shostakovich's Moskau Tscherjomuschki, Hindemith's Lehrstück, Rihm's Nietzsche opera Dionysos, Peter Maxwell Davies' The Turn of the Tide, Echnaton by Philip Glass and Johannes Harneit's Abends am Fluss and Hochwasser.

His mentors Iván Fischer, Dimitri Kitajenko and Péter Eötvös appreciate him for his creative and imaginative musical mind. His cooperation with Hungarian conductor Iván Fischer started in 2013 at both the Konzerthaus Berlin Orchestra and the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
