Philippe Chamouard

Philippe Chamouard (b. 1952) was born in Paris. He studied piano with Aline van Barentzen, composition with Roger Boutry (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris) and musicology (University of Paris-IV). After having been writer/editor for Deutsche Grammphon, he taught music writing between 1994 and 2004 at the University of Paris-Sorbonne. Since then, he regularly gives conferences. He published a book on Gustav Mahler. His symphonic scores are programmed in France (Radio-France, Les Paris de la Musique, OrchestreColonne), in many festivals (festival d'Art sacré de la ville de Paris Belle Ile en mer, Belaye…) and abroad: Poland, Romania, Hungary Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Estonia, Salvador , Finland, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Germany, Canada, USA, Vietnam. Philippe Chamouard works essentially orchestral scores: 10 symphonies, concertante works with trumpet, cello, violin, celtic harp, japanese koto, but also for strings orchestra, for voices, for choirs.
