PETYA PETROVA was born in Blagoevgrad in 1983 in a family of musicians. She has been interested in music and singing in particular from a very young age. At the age of 5 she went with her parents to Bogotá, Colombia. There she studied violin for 10 years with Antonia Kapitanova. Her love for singing brought her back to Bulgaria. In 2003 she was admitted to the Vocal Faculty of the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Academy of Music. In 2006 she won the 3rd prize at the National Competition for Young Instrumentalists and Singers “Svetoslav Obretenov”. After her graduation she was invited to perform the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte at the Konstantin Kisimov Musical Drama Theatre – Veliko Tarnovo, which brought her great success. Next came performances in various master classes of our famous opera singers Hristina Angelakova and Darina Takova. In 2011 she sang the soprano parts in Gustav Mahler’s Symphonies No 4 and No 8 in Colombia, which were performed for the first time in South America and recorded on DVD.Petya Petrova took part in many opera productions in Bulgaria. Since 2017 she has been admited into the National Philharmonic Choir.
