PETAR MATEV was born in Burgas in 1961. He graduated from the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy majoring in choral conducting in the class of prof. Stoyan Kralev. He has worked with various choirs – children’s, men’s, mixed, folk, performing in Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain, Turkey, North Macedonia, Austria, Serbia.
Since 1997 he has been conductor of the Choir of the blind Academician Petko Staynov, and since 1999 he has been conductor of the Mixed Choir of Transport Workers – Sofia. He has been conductor of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius Men’s Choir since 1995 and conductor of the Chemerika Women’s Folklore Formation between 1998 and 2005.
He was awarded a silver medal at the IX International Choir Competition “Orlando di Lasso” – Camerino, Italy, 2009. He has been awarded diplomas and certificates from national and international choral festivals. He has made dozens of recordings and released four CDs.
