Biography
For the past 15 years, ORIT ORBACH has been a member of the Eve's Women Band, a highly acclaimed ensemble of Middle Eastern music in jazz, rock, and Balkan styles. She specializes in Jewish music, practicing ethno-jazz in an exotic feminine interpretation. Her artistry, stage presence and natural musicality (Yediot Achronot) have been noted by critics: 'Orit Orbach is simply incredible!' ( Suzan Radwan, Myanmar). Orit Orbach has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic with Zubin Mehta, the Jerusalem Symphony, The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The San Francisco Sinfonietta, The Sofia Philharmonic, The Colorado Symphony, the Hagen Symphony and The Warsaw Philharmonic. As principal clarinetist of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, and Israel Camerata Jerusalem, Orit Orbach has performed in many festivals, including The Marlboro Festival, USA, Tanglewood Festival, USA, Neustadt festival, Germany, Jewish Music Festival in Warsaw, Camberra Music Festival, and San Francisco Jewish Music Festival. She performed with musicians such as Shlomo Mintz, Daniel Barenboim, Yuri Bashmet, Marie Peraiah, Raphael Wallfisch, David Soyer, Ms Orbach has served on the juries of numerous international competitions, including the Penderecki International Contemporary Competition in Krakow, The America- Israel Competitions, Israel. She conducts three wind ensembles and conducts clarinet masterclasses, klezmer (a Jewish musical style) and improvisation workshops around the world. Orbach graduated magna cum laude from the New England Conservatory and earned her master's degree from Northwestern University. She won First Prizes in competitions at the New England Conservatory and Northwestern University.
