Biography

Talented young violinist Nan Joo Lee belongs to the musicians we habitually refer to as 'child-prodigies'. Born on 5 March 1995 in Seoul, South Korea, Nan Joo Lee began studying violin and piano at the age of three, and went on to join the Seoul youth orchestra when she was six. In 2012, she won the First Prize of the Chamber Music Competition at the Seoul Superior School of Music, which she attended, and two years later entered the Seoul National University. Nan Joo Lee has performed numerous recitals, participated in chamber concerts and barely a twenty-year-old appeared at the Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center – New York. Currently she studies in the class of Prof. Mincho Minchev at the Folkwang University of the Arts Essen. Winner of numerous prestigious awards from competitions in Seoul, New York and France, most recently a laureate of the Pancho Vladigerov International Competition, Shumen (2019).
