Biography

The Italian soprano MARILY SANTORO studied with Liliana Marzano and graduated from the Francesco Cilea Conservatory in Reggio Calabria. A participant and scholarship holder in the Master Classes of Raina Kabaivanska at the New Bulgarian University, Marily Santoro is currently studying under her in Modena. She was awarded the First Prize of the Third International Competition Premio „Spiros Argiris” in Sarzana, Italy. She is a finalist of the XlV International Competition Toti Dal Monte and finalist at the 57th Edition of the Verdian Voices International Competition of Busseto, Italy. Marily Santoro debuted at a very young age as Violeta in Giuseppe Verdi’s la Traviata at Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, Italy, in 2015. In 2017, she debuted as Norma at the Sofia Opera. She then performed the same role at the Francesco Cilea Teatro Comunal in Reggio di Calabria, Italy. In 2018, she successfully performed Leonora in Giuseppe Verdi’s Troubadour at the Giuseppe Verdi Theatre in Trieste. Following is the role of Monica in The Medium by Gian Carlo Menotti in Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena; participation in „Festival of the two worlds“ in Spoleto, Countess Rosina in The Marriage of Figaro at the Goldoni Theater in Livorno. Marily Santoro’s upcoming engagements include her debut as Hanna Glavari in Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow at the Giuseppe Verdi Theater in Salerno, conducted by Daniel Oren, and the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro in Tuscany. In September 2019, Marily Santoro was a soloist in the Italian premiere of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Requiem.
