Marija Jelić

MARIJA JELIĆ (Soprano) was born in 1993 in Belgrade. The beginning of her successful professional career was in 2017, when she joined the Opera Studio of the Belgrade National Theatre. She played Micaëla in Carmen and Stanka ("At Dawn" by Binički) at the Belgrade National Theatre and Mimi (La Bohème), Aida and Tosca in the operas of the same name at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, as well as Elizabeth in Don Carlos. She has toured extensively in China with the Saint Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, in Russia, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Italy, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Croatia and Slovenia. Her performances are prestigious: at the Ljubljana Festival in 2021 in the concert performance of Carmen with Elīna Garanča and Jonathan Tetelman, under the baton of Karel Mark Chichon; in Ohrid at the Gala Concert at the opening of the 60^th Ohrid Summer Festival; in Belgrade with Plácido Domingo and the RTS Symphony Orchestra in 2021; in Croatia with José Cura; at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv as soloist for Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in 2019, with the Plovdiv Opera as Elizabeth from Don Carlos. She presented the role of Mimi in La Boheme at the Summer Opera Festival in Jerusalem with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Sébastien Rouland. She performed the same role in Estonia at the Narva Opera Festival. In Latvia she sang with the Latvian National Opera Orchestra of Riga at the Sigulda Opera Music Festival and with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. In 2021, Marija Jelić gave a solo concert at Carnegie Hall with pianist Anthony Manoli, and in 2022 she performed at the Ohrid Summer Festival with Britten's The Illuminations cycle. She has performed Aida in Cairo (Egypt) and at the National Opera in North Macedonia, the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA), Judith in Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle at the Narva Opera Festival (Estonia), Maddalena di Coigny in Andrea Chenier in Belgrade, Mimi in La Boheme in Seoul at the Seoul Lotte Concert Hall, and in Busan, Pohang and Chuncheon with conductor Maurizio Colasanti. In 2023, Marija Jelić soloed in Gorecki's Symphony No. 3 with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Gabriel Feltz, in Mahler's Symphony No. 4 with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, and in a Gala Opera Concert with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Toluca (Mexico), among others.
