Maria Meerovitch

MARIA MEEROVITCH (Piano) an inspirational artist, she has earned her reputation as a highly talented musician and a profound performer. From live performances to recording sessions and more, she continues to touch fans around the world with her distinct sound and a poetic musical style. Maria Meerovitch was born in St. Petersburg, at the age of six she began her musical education. At the age of eight she performed at St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall for the first time. She continued her studies at St. Petersburg Conservatory’s junior Music Institute with M. Freindling and M. Lebed and later under Prof. Anatol Ugorski at the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, with piano. In 1990 Maria went to Belgium after she received a scholarship from “Fonds Alex de Vries” – Y. Menuhin Foundation, graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (cum laude) and immediately began teaching piano and chamber music at the same institution. She subsequently won first prizes at several International Competitions (G.B. Viotti, Italy; Ch. Hennen, the Netherlands) and has been performing around the world ever since appearing in solo and chamber music recitals in the USA, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, The Republic of South Africa, South Korea, Israel and Europe. She collaborated and made a number of recordings on platforms and labels, such as: Arte-TV, Mezzo-TV, Teldec-classics, Naxos, SWR Music, Orchid Classics, with a variety of international chamber music partners, among which: Martha Argerich, Pinchas Zukerman, Philippe Hirschhorn, Saulus Sondeckis, Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Daniel Hope, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Dora Schwarzberg, Boris Berezovsky, Sergei Nakariakov, Daishin Kashimoto, Boris Brovtsyn, Christian-Pierre La Marca, Barnabás Kelemen, Pavel Berman, etc. As a soloist Maria appeared with numerous orchestras around the globe including London Philharmonic Orchestra, Zuericher Kammerorchester, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, The English Chamber Orchestra, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Orchestre Philharmonique de Cannes, and many others. In 2012 she was one of the few artists to participate in Ivry Gitlis’s Anniversary celebration in Salle Pleyel next to Martha Argerich, Maxim Vengerov, Itamar Golan, Akiko Suwanai, and many others. As a result of 10 successful years of teaching at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and her career as a performer, Maria was invited to share her experience at the Piano and Chamber music master classes worldwide.
