MARIA KOSTRAKI (Soprano) was born in Veria, Greece. She grew up in Thessaloniki. She received her vocal training in Munich by Prof. Kriztina Laki in Hochschule für Musik und Theater (Bachelor) and Würzburg by Prof. Cheryl Studer in the Musikhochschule (Master).

She made her debut at a very early age with Norina (Don Pasquale – Donizetti) at the Munich Kammeroper. During the next few years she would sing the soprano at Carl Orff’s Il Trionfo di Afrodite at the Opera of Cairo and Alexandria as well as Despina in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte. She prepared the role of Elena in Rossini’s La Donna del Lago under the guidance of maestro Alberto Zedda at the Rossini Festival of Bad Wildbad and she sang the part of Clorinda in Rossini’s Cenerentola under maestro Alessandro De Marchi at the  Weikersheim Festival. She covered Desdemona in Rossini’s Otello at the Rossini Festival of Bad Wildbad.

She is a member of the ensemble of the Staatsoper of Nurnberg, where she has performed roles such as Sacerdotessa in Verdi’s Aida, Juliet in Korngold’s The Dead City, Countess Stasi in Csardasfürstin by Kalman and Mimi in Puccini’s La Boheme.

In the fall of 2015, she was awarded for the role of Hanna Glavari in Lehar’s The Merry Widow at the theaters of Lucca and Livorno in Italy. She has won various competitions and scholarships, such as Giuseppe di Stefano in Trapani, Sicily (2006), Conegliano Veneto (2006), and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall (2007), Italy’s Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto (2008), Thessaloniki Opera (2008), Alexandra Trianti (2010), ArteInCanto in Basciano (2012) and Ruggiero Leoncavallo in Potenza (2014).

In 2010 she made her first recording for the Asian market of Italian chamber music by Rossini, Puccini, Catalani, Zandonai, Leoncavallo and others, and in 2015/2016 she released the CDs Deesis and Stimmen in which she performs Greek, German and English covers of composer Athanasios Simoglou. In 2022 “ILLIRIA Productions” released her first original work called Mosaico Mediterraneo” (Mediterranean Mosaic).

Maria Kostraki’s recent appearances include the role of Pamina from Mozart’s Magic Flute in Munich, performances as soloist in concerts in various cities in Germany, Austria (Vienna), Switzerland (Baden), Egypt (Cairo and Alexandria).
