American-Russian violinist MARIA IOUDENITCH captured the attention of music lovers worldwide in 2021 when she received first prizes in three international violin competitions – the Ysaÿe, Tibor Varga and Joseph Joachim In 2023, her debut album Songbird on Warner Classics with American pianist Kenneth Broberg received the Opus Klassik Award in the Chamber Music Recording of the Year category. It included works from Franz Schubert and Fanny Mendelssohn to Nikolai Medtner and Nadia Boulanger. In the concerts that followed, she performed concertos by Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Barber, and Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Il Grosso Mogul. This season’s recital programmes include works by Lera Auerbach and Germaine Tailleferre, alongside standard violin repertoire.
Highlights of her 2024/2025 concert season include debuts with the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich as part of the Orpheus Young Artist Development Foundation concert series, giving outstanding young soloists the opportunity to perform with renowned orchestras under the baton of major conductors, as well as concerts with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, she also goes on tour. She is also invited by Heidelberger Frühling, Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg and Philharmonia Frankfurt. Following her successful debut with the Dresden Philharmonic in spring 2024, Maria Ioudenitch has been invited to participate in the Dresden Philharmonic’s New Year’s programme under the baton of Sir Donald Runnicles. She will make her US debut with the Cincinnati and Detroit Symphony Orchestras.
Named a major talent by the Konzerthaus Wien, a programme that supports the professional careers of young artists, she gave various recitals at the Wiener Konzerthaus. As an active chamber musician, she participates in tours of the Ravinia Steans Music Institute and the Marlborough Music Festival.
Maria Ioudenitch has made her debuts with the Berlin Philharmonic, Leipzig Symphony Orchestra, Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra and Munich Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Hannover Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Utah Symphony Orchestra and Kansas City Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with conductors such as Andrey Boreyko, Donald Runnicles, Alpesh Chauhan, Marta Gardolińska, Holly Hyun Choe, Jonathan Bloxham, Yi-Chen Lin, Ryan Bancroft, Kevin John Edusei, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Andrew Manze, Jan Willem de Vriend, Robin Ticciati and Ruth Reinhardt.
Maria Ioudenitch grew up in Kansas City and began playing violin with Gregory Sandomirsky at the age of three. She continued her studies with Ben Sayevich at the International Center for Music in Kansas City and Pamela Frank and Shmuel Ashkenasi at the Curtis Institute of Music and completed her master’s degree and Artist Diploma at the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Miriam Fried. In 2021-2023, she was mentored by Sonia Simmenauer as part of her new initiative, zukunfts.music. Currently, she is in the Professional Studies program at the Kronberg Academy, working with Christian Tetzlaff.
