Biography

Berlin-born and originating from Poland mezzo-soprano LAURA OLIVIA SPENGEL started her musical education at an early age and was a long- time member of the Berlin children’s choir. Since 2004 she lives in Vienna, where she studied musicology at the University of Vienna. Since 2011 she studied singing with KS Gabriele Sima at the Vienna Conservatory. There she was heard as Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and as sister Clara in Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites. In addition, she compounds her vocal training with various masterclasses with her mother Grazyna Wojtanowska, KS Marjana Lipovsek and Alfred Burgstaller. In October 2013, she won the First International Beaumarchais Concours of the Vienna State Opera and the Mozarthaus Vienna. From the same year she has also been a member of the company Live Music Now, founded by Yehudi Menuhin Society with whom she regularly participates in concerts.
