Krasimir Taskov

Krassimir Taskov (b. 1955) graduated from the National State Academy of Music majoring in Piano under Professor Konstantin Ganev and Professor Julia Ganeva (1981) and Composition under Professor Pencho Stoyanov (1984). He attended composition courses of Ton de Leeuw and Theo Loevendie in the Netherlands and Anatol Vieru in Romania. As a pianist, he gave solo and chamber concerts in Bulgaria and abroad. He won prizes at the international piano competition in Santander, Spain (1978) and at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1978). He was prizewinner at national competitions, too. Currently, he is Professor of Piano (since 2000) and Chairman of the Composition Department (since 1999) at the State Academy of Music. He composed works for symphonic and chamber orchestra; chamber music; choral songs, etc. His Archaic Pictures for piano were among the recommended works on the list of the 1984 International Composers’ Rostrum of UNESCO, held in Paris. The international composition competition in Tokyo awarded his Fantasia (1991), Triptych for two pianos (1995), Mutuality (1999) and Dithyrambs (2002). In 2002 his Concerto for clarinet and symphony orchestra won the first prize at the Rhapsody in 7/8 Time Beat Composition Competition. The following year his Transfiguration for two pianos was nominated and performed at the World Music Days Festival in Slovenia. His music was performed in France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Japan and other countries, and was published in Bulgaria, France and Russia.
