Kapsun Park

Biography
Dr. Kapsun Park is an arts administrator, cultural policy specialist, and educator with more than twenty years of professional experience in the management of orchestral and choral institutions. She currently serves as Senior Managing Director of the Bucheon City Arts Group, overseeing both the artistic and administrative operations of the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bucheon Civic Chorale.
Working closely with music directors and conductors, Dr. Park plays a central role in season planning, artistic strategy, and institutional governance. She brings a comprehensive operational perspective to the function of the conductor as both musical leader and organizational figure. Her professional focus examines how conductors shape ensemble identity, rehearsal culture, artistic standards, and the long-term sustainability of cultural institutions.
Her career includes senior leadership positions at major cultural foundations and public arts organizations, where she was responsible for artistic evaluation, award and talent development programs, and international collaborations. She has programmed and produced large-scale performances at leading cultural centers in Korea and has worked with international arts organizations in the United States.
Dr. Park holds a Ph.D. in Performing Arts Studies from Seoul National University and an M.A. in Arts Management from American University. As an academic, she has taught cultural policy and arts management at several universities. At the Sofia International Conducting Competition, she contributes a jury perspective grounded in orchestral practice, institutional leadership, and a nuanced understanding of the conductor’s role within contemporary music organizations.
