Biography

JINSEOK JEONG was born in Budapest into a Korean family. At the age of 5 he began playing the cello and was immediately described by renowned cellist Kian Soltani as "an emerging talent with exceptional musicality and remarkable technical ability". He won first prizes at the Hungarian National Youth Competition and at the international competition "Città di Padova". At the age of 11, he enrolled in the Young Talent Programme at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, where he studied under György Deri and Istvan Varga. He became a laureate of the Antonio Janigro International Competition in Croatia, the David Popper Competition in Hungary and the Jan Vichtil Competition in the Czech Republic. He has played in the Franz Liszt Academy's Great Hall, Vigado Hall, Kurhaus in Baden-Baden, Schönbrunn Palace, with orchestras such as the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Zuglo Philharmonic, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestras and Anima Musicae. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with musicians such as Sergei Ostrovsky, Balázs Fulei, Peter Bruns, Noémie Bialobroda and Walli Hasse. Since 2023 he has studied with Prof. Kian Soltani at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He is a fellow of the Music Academy of Liechtenstein, the International String Academy in Geneva and the Festival Academy in Budapest. He has participated in the master classes of Frans Helmerson, Miklos Perényi, Peter Bruns, Reinhard Latzko, Wen-Sinn Yang, Marc Coppey and Anne Gastinel, among others.
