Jacopo Brusa

Jacopo Brusa is considered one of the most interesting conductors of his generation. Since his debut, national and international reviews describe him as a pleasant discovery and his conducting was often considered flawlessly. Born in Pavia in 1985, he began there his musical studies at the age of seven studying Harpsichord. He later continued his studies at the Conservatory of Music G. Verdi of Milan where he graduated in Organ with full marks and he specialized, then, at various national and international musical institutions such as the Hochschule für Musik of Hamburg, the Conservatory of Music G. Tartini of Trieste and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Meanwhile, Jacopo Brusa started to study Orchestral Conducting, taking part to several courses and masterclasses such as the Wiener Musik Seminar of Vienna, the prestigious Chigiana Academy under the guidance of Gianluigi Gelmetti, the Summer Program at the Bard College in the USA, the Bottega Peter Maag in Pesaro with Donato Renzetti and he took his Graduation at the Conservatory of Music G. Tartini of Trieste in the Conducting class of Maestro Antonino Fogliani. Among the Soloist activity, he collaborates as conductor with orchestras and choruses such as the Orchestra and Chorus of the Arena of Verona, the Real Orquesta Sinfonica of Seville, the Orchestra Sinfonica of Milan, the Orchestra of the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova, Orchestra and Chorus of the G. Verdi Opera House of Trieste, the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini of Parma, the I Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra of Milan, the Filarmonica dell’Opera Italiana Bruno Bartoletti of Parma, the Virtuosi Brunenses Orchestra of Brno, the Ente Concerti Marialisa de Carolis Orchestra of Sassari, the Orchestra 1813 of the Teatro Sociale of Como and the Philarmonic Orchestra of the Friuli Venezia Giulia. Moreover, he is regularly invited to conduct for renowned Opera houses and festivals such as the Fondazione Arena of Verona, the Rossini Opera Festival of Pesaro, the Teatro de la Maestranza of Seville, G. Verdi Opera house of Trieste, the Macerata Opera Festival, the Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival, the Fondazione Donizetti of Bergamo, the Teatro G. Fraschini of Pavia, the Teatro Sociale of Como, the Teatro A. Ponchielli of Cremona, the Teatro Grande of Brescia, the Teatro Municipale of Piacenza, the Opera Giocosa of Savona, the Ente Concerti Marialisa de Carolis of Sassari and the Piccolo Opera Festival FVG. Beside the symphonic repertoire, Jacopo Brusa made his operatic debut receiving great acclaim from audiences and critics alike for the following Operas: Turandot, Madama Butterfly and Gianni Schicchi by G. Puccini; Don Carlos, Il trovatore and La traviata by G. Verdi; Guglielmo Tell, La Cenerentola, L’inganno felice and La cambiale di matrimonio by G. Rossini; Così fan tutte and Die Zauberflöte by W. A. Mozart; Le maschere by P. Mascagni; Nozze Istriane by A. Smareglia; La serva padrona by G. B. Pergolesi; Ein Walzertraum by O. Straus and Il Sordo, world premiere on the lyrics by Leo Nucci (who sang the main role). He also recorded for the Italian national broadcasting Rai 5 and Radio Tre Rai. Jacopo Brusa is actually Artistic director of the Fondazione Teatro Fraschini of Pavia and Artistic director of the Festival Illica of Castell’Arquato.
