Soprano IWONA HOSSA’s artistic career has been highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. She graduated with distinction from the Vocal and Acting Department of the Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and has collaborated with many opera theatres in Poland and abroad. Laureate of the Grand Prix and Gold Medal at the Maria Callas International Vocal Competition in Athens. A versatile artist, Iwona Hossa’s extensive repertoire includes operatic and other vocal works ranging from early music to the contemporary. Iwona Hossa has given many world premieres of music by contemporary Polish composers. She has released many CD recordings, including Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater and Litany to the Virgin Mary, which received a Grammy 2009 nomination. She took part in a BBC’s memorial documentary entitled Holocaust: A Music Memorial Film from Auschwitz, which was distinguished with the International Emmy Award 2005 in the category of Best Arts Programming. In 2018, she released a CD and DVD with music by Krzysztof Penderecki. Iwona Hossa is also actively involved in social work in the field of education and culture management in Poland, and was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit for her professional activities.
