The baritone IVO YORDANOV (1980) was born in Varna. In 2007 he graduated from the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia in the class of opera prima Hristina Angelakova. He specialized with Mirella Parutto and Antonio Boyer at the Boris Cristoff Academy in Rome and at the Opera studio Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia Rome – with Renata Scotto, Anna Vandy and Cesare Scarton.
Ivo Yordanov brilliantly represented Bulgaria at the BBC competition in Cardiff “Singer of the World” (2007), won First Prize at the competition in Spoleto – Italy (2009). He worked for two seasons as a soloist of Teatro Sperimentale, while simultaneously being trained by other winners of the competition – Sonia Ganassi, Mariella Devia, Luigi Alva, Renato Bruson. He has also been a prizewinner of dozens of international competitions and music festivals.
In his repertoire the baritone has performed central roles from the world opera and operetta repertoire (W. A. Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Gaetano Donizetti, P. I. Tchaikovsky, Giacomo Puccini, Jacques Offenbach, Franz Lehar, Emmerich Kálmán, etc. ), as well as many chamber works and works of the cantata-oratorio genre (Carl Orff, G. Handel, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Benjamin Britten, Modest Mussorgsky, Dimitar Nenov, etc.).
Since October 2019 Ivo Yordanov is also a staff soloist of Varna Opera House.
