Long-time professor of opera conducting at the National Academy of Music.

Winner of second prize at the International Conducting Competition “Santa Cecilia” in Rome, Italy (1965).

Between 1963 and 1969 he conducted the choir of the Plovdiv Singing Society. From 1960 to 1976 he was the chief conductor of the Burgas Philharmonic, leading it to one of the most prominent Bulgarian orchestras. He was also the director of the Burgas Opera from 1990 to 1996. The concert hall in Burgas bears his name.

Vulpe also works with the Shumen Philharmonic and is one of the organizers of the First International Piano Competition “Pancho Vladigerov” in Shumen. At the end of 1954, the newly graduated student was appointed chief conductor of the Shumen Symphony Orchestra, where he remained for three years. He then returned to lead the Shumen Philharmonic until 1971.

Vulpe is the heir to a distinguished musical family. He is the grandson of the legendary opera singer Ivan Vulpe (1876-1929), one of the original founders of the national opera house.
