Imola Lídia Máté

IMOLA LÍDIA MÁTÉ is a Hungarian-Romanian soprano known for her expressive artistry, vocal clarity, and versatile stage presence. She has performed roles such as Norina (Don Pasquale), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), and Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro) with institutions including the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca and the Turda National Theatre. Her concert repertoire includes works such as Fauré’s Requiem, Haydn’s Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo, as well as contemporary pieces like Sarah Nemtsov’s heimwehgefiedert and the world premiere of Henry Fourès’ Dédicaces. She has taken part in the international iSING! Suzhou Echoes of Ancient Tang Poems tour, performing with orchestras including the Philadelphia Orchestra at NCPA Beijing, the Macao Orchestra, and the Hubei Symphony Orchestra, as well as in the subsequent and upcoming tour of the entire ensemble. She has given recitals at venues such as Steinway & Sons in Milan and London, and the HIDALGO Festival in Munich. Other appearances include the SoNoRo Festival in Italy and the Forum für Neue Musik in Frankfurt, where she performed music by Bernhard Lang and Luigi Nono. Upcoming engagements include the roles of Ottilie Giesecke in Ralf Benazki’s Im weißen Rößl with Minopera in Sweden, Fantasca in Indigo und die 40 Räuber with the Sofia Philharmonic, Verdi’s Requiem, and Belinda in Dido & Aeneas with Vestsjællands Kammerkor in Denmark, along with performances with the Guizhou and Chengdu Symphony Orchestras. Imola Lidia Mate studied opera singing at the George Dima National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, at the Stockholm University of the Arts, and then completed postgraduate vocal training at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. At the Ghena Dimitrova International Competition in Pleven, she received Third Prize and the award for best performance of a work by a Bulgarian composer, and at the Alexandru Fărcaș Interpretation Competition. in Cluj-Napoca, she won the Special Jury Prize for interpretation. She has also been awarded several scholarships: SoNoRo Interference (to support the training of young musical elite in Romania), the Swedish Royal Academy of Music, UNIMIR, Dorothy Irving Scholarship (for the promotion and preservation of song art).
