Biography

İlyun Bürkev (born 2008) is a rapidly rising young pianist whose international career is developing with remarkable speed. She already has a strong presence on the European concert stage. She began studying piano at the age of four and initially studied at the Istanbul State Conservatory. She is currently enrolled in the Pre‑College program at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in the class of Prof. Pavel Gililov. She has participated in masterclasses with Alfred Brendel and other distinguished musicians. Bürkev is a laureate of several prestigious international competitions, including the Jeune Chopin International Piano Competition and the Philadelphia International Piano Competition. At the age of fourteen she toured Germany with the Klassische Philharmonie Bonn, performing Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto in major venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Herkulessaal in Munich. In 2024, İlyun Bürkev opened the 52nd Istanbul Music Festival with Grieg’s Piano Concerto under the baton of Cem Mansur. Her recent engagements include her recital debut at Bechstein Hall, appearances at the Young Classic Europe Festival, and a gala performance at the Liechtenstein Academy. In 2025 she recorded her debut album with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra for the Berlin Classics label.
