Gheorghe Dumitrescu

Romanian composer Gheorghe Dumitrescu (1914 – 1996), brother of Ion Dumitrescu and father of Tudor Dumitrescu, was born in Oteșani and studied at the Bucharest Conservatory 1934–41. He served there as a professor of harmony from 1951 until 1979. He died in 1996, in Bucharest. He wrote several operas, 4 instrumental suites, 11 symphonies, as well as numerous chamber pieces, oratorios, cantatas, songs, etc.
